Hikepost 004 - Fog and Blooms at Las Trampas

I've been on a hiking hiatus, a hikeatus as we call it in the industry, since I returned from my backpacking trip at the end of May. I don't know if it was 3 days of hiking with a heavy pack, or sleeping in a crater, or what, but one of the tendons on the underside was not happy!

I went out to Las Trampas Wilderness Regional Preserve (catchy name) to do one of my favorite shorter hikes, the Las Trampas Ridge Trail. I need to do a whole post talking about this park and this trail sometime. It's one of my favorite parks in the Bay, and I think some large percentage of people here probably haven't even heard of it. But for now, I'll just share some nice pics.

May at Las Trampas is spectacular; the grass is dry and golden, sparkling in the sunlight. Mariposa lilies are blooming, as are the chamise shrubs, which cover many of the hillsides, attracting lots of butterflies. It's also a great time to see some Big Summer Fog.

After this hike I decided my knee needed not just days, but probably weeks of rest to get back to normal, but I'm glad I went out, because it was lovely.
